Posted by DrBoris (Member # 565) on :

Boris' capitol ship happened to be in the Terra sector when the incident began. He didn't know immidiately however, he was a solar system or two away at the time. He fortunately decided it was time for a visit to his species homeworld.

[Heh, how conveinent of you, Boris.]

"Commander, we are within 2 lightyears of earth, and were getting some intresting readings" shouted a science officer. "Explain" responded Boris.
"Well there seems to be an intresting flux field surrounding Earth, some sort of distortion, were getting alot of Protisian particlies"

[Eh, don't ask me why Earth isn't capitalized the first time, but is the Second time. o.o]

"Those little stasis field particles?" groaned Boris
"...Yes"
"greeeat, just what I need, a problem with my vacation spot, all right, scan for craft in the area, ready a shuttle to the surface, 2 officer crew"

[Hm, I actually forgot if Boris specifys where exactly he comes from or not later on, since he says Earth is his vacation spot.]

"Yessir"

They arrived at earth 52 seconds later.
"Launching Craft..." noted the navigation officer "Front viewscreen on"
The craft began desending into the atmosphere, the moment it got under the red field it slowed, and finally became frozen in space.

[Yeah, because the red field didn't look suscipious at all. ;)]

"S.O. report, what the hell was that?" Demanded Boris
"distortion it appears, and it looks long term"
"Ship hailing us" shot the com officer

"Attention Raynor's army vessal, you are interfearing with test process 417, please leave the area and we will retrieve your shuttle via tractor beam" came a pictureless voice over the com

[Eh, to be honest, I don't know if "Raynor's army" was a game or media reference in general or if that's just a made-up name for the organization Boris is part of. Again, I'm going over this from start to finish, so some of my memories will probably fail me here. :(]

"I want an explanation now, you do realize this planet is inhabited by sentient life, and its a homeworld no less" Boris barked back over the com
"No we didnt and it is of no consequence, the weapon's effect is designed only to last for 550 years, this planet will return to normal in exactly that long, the ecosystems should take minor damage at most, the effect is only for animal life"

[MINOR damage? LOL that's an understatement if I ever heard one. XD
Also, only 550 years eh? How much you wanna bet Earth won't be there in 550 years due to it's inert activitiy getting it blasted by a comet or asteroid, or something? :P]

"550 YEARS!?" exclaimed Boris "Everyone will be dead by then, we need details of reversal now"
"I'm afraid thats impossible, It would compromise the effectiveness of the weapon, its a shock tactic, to make sure the rebels never rise up against us again, if they know it can be countered, they will not be affected by it"

[Yeah, a theme to the use of the weapon that freeze's Earth's timestream has to do with a counter to some kind of "rebels" the attacking ship is dealing with on some other world or place. We tried to give more depth to this later, but I'm not sure how successful we were exactly with it.]

"Actually I really don't give a **** about your internal problems, give us the details now, or you will be disabled and borded"

[Oooooooh you swore. I iz tell mi mommy. D:
Actually, I don't know if people were a little lighter on the use of censored swears in forum posts in 2002 or not, but I guess so since the post survived. o.o]

"Commander their ship has gone to warp, but several pods containing life-forms, and also several probes have entered the atmosphere, they seem immune to the effects" reported a nearby officer
"Our priority countering whatever has happened, set coordinates to whever that ship is going, chase them, it may be possible to overtake them. We will have to leave the ones that went to the surface to whatever may be moveing down there"

[And thus, begins the conflict for Earth's future, or something epic sounding like that. :P]
